Just Opened a Clinic? A Launch Playbook for Filling Your Panel
Empower Health · July 2026 · 5 min read
A new clinic has one marketing advantage no established practice can match: you're accepting patients. In a province where roughly one in five people lacks a regular provider, that message travels — if people can find you and act on it instantly.
Be findable before you're busy
List everywhere patients search: Google Business Profile (with accurate hours and the booking link), regional directories, and healthcare navigation platforms like empower.ca and findhealth.ca, which help patients across Canada discover clinics accepting new patients. Register with Health Care Connect pathways where applicable so unattached patients in your area are routed to you.
Make the next click a booking, not a phone number
Awareness without action is wasted. Every listing, post, and flyer should end at your online booking page — where a new patient books a meet-and-greet in two minutes, in their language, at midnight if that's when they found you. Clinics that route discovery traffic to a phone number lose the majority of it to hold times and after-hours dead ends.
Launch-week checklist
Booking page live and linked from every profile · new-patient stream with intake forms · same-day slots visible (nothing signals 'we have room' like real availability) · SMS confirmations on · a one-page flyer with a QR code for pharmacies, community centres, and settlement agencies nearby · a simple weekly report: bookings by source, new vs. returning.
Measure attachment, not clicks
The KPI that matters is rostered patients per week and time-to-third-available appointment. Everything else is vanity.
